Rooftop Garden Party
I’ve been loving the at home garden parties and dinners on instagram and as a New Yorker the reality of me ever having a garden is slim to none! So I recreated a garden party for all the city dwellers by bringing the garden to the roof.
I ran over to the farmers market for fresh blooms. The farmers market is a great place in the summer for affordable flowers plus it’s a great way to support local businesses.
I separated the flowers into little mason jar glasses as well as small ceramic vases from CB2 to make a garden table scape.
Next I started on food and drinks. I went with a tapas theme because who doesn’t love a good sangria? Plus you can make sangria ahead of time and store in a pitcher in the fridge.
Next up I found an amazing and easy patatas bravas recipe on food network. Although it was time consuming it was definitely worth it.
If you are looking for a faster recipe then shishito peppers are the way to go. Lately this has been my go to recipe because they are salty but much healthier then chips!
Ingredients:
Shishito pepper
Olive oil
Salt
Add olive oil, peppers and salt to a hot pan. The shishito peppers will start to bruise and once this happens you know they are ready! No need to even cut off the stems. You can put a second small bowl out for guests to discard their stems.
Lastly with left over French bread I whipped up some pan con tomate. To do this, heat French bread in the oven and then smear on garlic and tomato.
Once the table was set it really started to feel like a garden party! Now it’s just time to sit back and enjoy the city sunset view!
